The Biochemistry Lab is established with an intention to introduce the students to some of the most widely used experimental procedures in biochemistry such as qualitative analysis of biomolecules, estimations of biochemical parameters including diagnostic enzymes, protein purification and characterization, enzyme assays and kinetics and Immuno assay by ELISA technique. One will also gain familiarity with the significant types of equipment frequently used in biochemistry lab such as colorimetric, spectrophotometric and electrophoretic equipments.

The facilities in the lab provide students with a research-inspired laboratory experience that introduces standard biochemical techniques in the context of investigating a current and exciting research topic. The lab introduces students to cutting edge research facilities in a modular format.

Pathology and Microbiology Laboratory:

Microbiology lab

The Pathology lab aims at inculcating knowledge in the science of the causes and effects of diseases. Specifically, it relates to examining body tissue and bodily fluids for diagnostic purposes. The pathology lab provides a range of facility to undergo tissue processing, tissue sectioning and cryoprocessing techniques to fix tissue and study its morphological changes under light microscopy. The above techniques combined with H &E staining procedures facilitates histopathologic studies in diagnosing benign and malignant tumors.

Microbiology lab is a strong diagnostic lab that provides facility for a range of human pathogens identification including simple bacteria, gram positive and gram negative bacteria, Acid-fast bacteria by conventional staining procedures. The Lab also focuses on diagnostic procedures of Malarial Parasites, Microfilaria and Leishmania donovani. The lab also has higher end facilities to capture the microscopic observations and to analyze it deeply and conclude effectively.

Human Physiology Laboratory

Physiology and anatomy lab

The Human Physiology Lab introduces students to laboratory techniques in the study of physiology and provides demonstrations of processes learned in the Human Physiology lecture sessions. Laboratory exercises cover a wide range of topics from classic experiments in identification of blood groups, blood clotting studies, Differential count and various other significant hematology parameters which help in diagnosing clinical condition. The lab also facilitates and focuses on visual and hearing tests to investigate the sensing capacity of vision and hearing. The hands-on application of physiological concepts in this lab provides an in-depth knowledge to carry out collaborative research in Biomedical Engineering.
